Hi Wendy! Gosh - that sounds like quite a bad fall! We're sad to hear about your injury and hope it heals quickly and you're back on the trails soon! Thank you for your feedback and we're glad we were able to assist! Take care, rest well and maybe come back to smash JMC next year!! Claire

Thank you to the organisers, your great marshall on the motorbike (Daryn?) and your medics for helping me get to Stellenbosch medi clinic on Sunday morning after embarrassingly wiping out after only 4kms!! I ended up having surgery at Constantiaberg on Sunday night to put a plate and 6 pins in my arm to repair the damage! thanks again -Wendy

@Johan Meyer at least you officially finished dude :) how's this for bad luck?

I missed the 35km deviation off jeep track, mostly cause I was turning on the "hot taps" like a screaming-bansheeI only realised later when comparing results and maps - I alerted JMC team straight away of my route mixup and they rightfully had only one option but to disqualify my finish.

Overall the route was superbly marked, not sure how I missed the turn - reckon mixture of speed and being caught up in bunch of 21km runners as well as not paying attention.

Had a rad race all-and-all .... superbly managed.

SHOT guys !!!!

Next year will be potent for sure.

AJ "King of Mountain" - you're a weapon boet!

So I basically ended dead last :-) The last 6 months or so have been on and off thanks to some recurring niggles and strains, basically zero training over the last 6 weeks thanks to injury to left calf bouncing down Platteklip, so I knew I was in for some fun.

Left calf muscle locked up completely at around 14kms and I just sat there gasping for breath. Everytime I tried to get into some kind of run, calf would seize up solid and after the 4th time I just decided to hell with it and so I walked home the last 20kms.

Legs were basically numb from cramps but I would not have missed it for the world. When you get hurt in a road race, you normally bail - cut-off and such. On the trails it just doesn't matter, time becomes irrelevant, its all about you and the mountain. My Garmin's battery died on me at around 22kms - forgot to charge it and cellphone dead as well - same problem. So I had no idea how far I had to go or what the time was and I can honestly say I did not care one bit. I have only once enjoyed a trail more than yesterday, Addo 2012.

A big thanks to the medic at checkpoint 2, at that stage I could not even bend my legs without something seizing up and the stretches helped me get down from the mountain.

A wonderfull event, superbly organised - reserve me an entry for 2014 please!

yayy, I didn't do too badly considering I twisted my ankle 3 times forcing me to walk a while. Once again I find myself right in the middle of the field; frustrating and motivating.
